How to Protect Account Access During a Number Rental
Protect your MangoOTP login, rented number, SMS messages, and target application while a number rental remains active.
Secure MangoOTP before the rental starts
Use a unique password for MangoOTP and protect the email address connected to the account. Do not reuse the same password on the target application. Review the security options available on your account and enable stronger authentication where offered. A secure rental begins with control of the MangoOTP login itself.
Use a trusted device and current browser. Avoid public computers, shared profiles, unknown extensions, and open Wi-Fi for purchases or verification. Lock the device when it is unattended and keep its operating system updated.
Treat the rented number as sensitive
An active rental may receive login, recovery, security, and confirmation messages. Do not post the number publicly or share it with another person. Someone who knows the number and the target application may try to trigger messages or confuse your verification flow.
Copy the number only into the intended application. Confirm the country code and full digits before continuing. If several rentals are active, label them privately by MangoOTP order number, service, and expiry time so codes are not mixed.
Protect every SMS message
A verification code should be entered only on the page that requested it. Do not send full message text through chat, email, screenshots, or support tickets. Support can investigate with the rental order number, time, service, country, and visible status; the complete code is not required.
Applications sometimes send several codes. Use timestamps to identify the message related to the current request and follow the target application's rule about which code is valid. Delete temporary clipboard copies and unneeded screenshots after the action is complete.
Keep the target application secure
Use a separate strong password for the account being registered. Review recovery email, device sessions, login alerts, and any additional authentication provided by that application. A rented number should not be the only recovery method for a long-lived account unless the application and rental duration support that use.
Do not approve a sign-in you did not initiate. If an unexpected code arrives, avoid entering it anywhere and review the target application's security activity. The message itself can be a warning that another session requested access.
Watch the rental timeline
Record the start and expiry time in a private reminder. Complete important recovery or security changes before the end. After expiry, new messages are not collected for the old rental, and another rental does not guarantee the same number.
MangoOTP does not provide a user-initiated cancellation after the rental starts. Closing the page or logging out does not end the rental. If access becomes unavailable before the recorded end time, preserve the order number and contact support.
Respond safely to a suspected compromise
Change the MangoOTP password from a trusted device and secure the connected email account. Review active sessions or security settings provided by the target application. Do not disclose passwords, authentication secrets, access tokens, API keys, or full verification messages while asking for help.
Prepare a concise record: MangoOTP rental order number, approximate time, service, country, status, and a redacted screenshot. This allows investigation without exposing credentials. More account and rental security guidance is available in the MangoOTP Help Center.
