Why an Active Number Rental Cannot Be Cancelled by the User
Understand why MangoOTP does not offer user-initiated cancellation after a number rental starts, and what to do if the rental becomes unavailable.
The rental has already reserved a service period
A number rental is different from a one-time SMS activation. After a MangoOTP rental becomes active, a dedicated number and service period have already been assigned to the order. Messages may arrive at any point before the expiry time, including login, security, recovery, and confirmation messages that were not expected at the moment of purchase.
For this reason, MangoOTP does not provide a user-initiated cancellation action after the rental starts. The restriction applies throughout the active period. It avoids ending access while the target application may still send a message and prevents an accidental click from terminating a number that is being used to maintain an account.
Why a short grace period is not offered
A rental may begin receiving messages immediately. Even during the first few minutes, the number can already be entered into an application or linked to an account. A general cancellation window would make it unclear whether a later message belongs to an active rental, an ended rental, or a number that has returned to availability.
A page not showing a message yet is not proof that the rental has not started. Use the start time, end time, number, service, country, and displayed status on the rental detail page. Closing the browser, switching language, or leaving the page does not pause the rental period.
Price and duration must be checked first
Before confirming, review the selected service, country, duration, final price, and available main balance. A longer duration cannot correct an incorrect service or unsupported country. If you need only a short, predictable period, select 7 days. If later messages may be required for several weeks, select 30 days.
The purchase page is the correct moment to make this decision. Once the rental is active, unused time does not create a user cancellation right, and natural expiry is treated as completion of the purchased period rather than a refundable cancellation.
What happens at normal expiry
When the end time is reached, the active rental becomes expired and stops receiving new messages for your account. Normal expiry does not create a refund because the selected rental period has been provided. Previously stored, authorized message history remains available according to the product rules, but a new rental does not guarantee the same number.
Record the expiry time in a private reminder if later verification is expected. Complete important account recovery or security checks before the end instead of waiting until the last minute.
If the rental stops before expiry
An unexpected interruption is not handled through a user cancel button. Keep the MangoOTP rental order number, service, country, start and end times, last visible status, and a redacted screenshot. Contact support so the order can be checked against its recorded lifecycle.
Do not create several replacement rentals or assume a refund amount. An interrupted rental requires an authorized review of the confirmed result. If a refund is applicable, it is recorded as a separate account transaction linked to the rental order. The original purchase record remains visible for reconciliation.
Use the rental safely
Keep the rental detail page as the source of truth, protect every verification code, and do not share the rented number publicly. If multiple rentals are active, separate them by order number and expiry time. Never send passwords, two-factor secrets, access tokens, or API keys to support.
The no-cancellation rule is intended to preserve continuity and a verifiable order history, not to hide the rental result. More information about rental duration, messages, expiry, and support is available in the MangoOTP Help Center.
